Castellanos Wedding

In celebration of my two-year anniversary, I am creating a blog post for all of the new brides out there who are searching for new ideas for their wedding day or maybe you'd just like to dream about this day and love to see new ideas! I remember being in your position two years ago, trying to find as many ideas as I could to choose the color and theme of my wedding. I remember being inspired by wedding photos from different blogs that I stumbled upon in my research. I hope this blog post will do the same for you!

The First Step:

Choosing your Theme and Colors

One of the first things you must decide before you begin purchasing your dress and wedding decor is the theme and colors you want to go with. I've always loved the color red, so my choice was very obvious to me. If you are uncertain of the color/s you want, first think about the theme you are going for. Do you want a rustic wedding? Vintage? Beach theme? Choosing your theme will help you choose your colors because the more specific your research becomes, the more you will be able to organize your likes from your dislikes and begin the process of elimination.

What Did I Choose?

As I already said, I chose the color red because it is my favorite color, but more specifically, I chose the color "Marsala" or "Wine". I also chose the theme of Italian because I find the Italian culture so romantic and dreamy. I then began envisioning the kind of location where I wanted my wedding, what type of food to serve, etc. It's amazing how many ideas begin to flood in your mind as soon as your decide on a theme.

Wedding Inspiration: Italian & Marsala

I am going to give you a glimpse into my wedding day in hopes that it might inspire you and trigger ideas about what you might want for your own wedding day. I am going to categorize a timeline of events and key details of the wedding so that you know what to look for when working out the details of your wedding. Enjoy!

The Bouquet

I ordered all of my flowers from a flower warehouse and picked them up the day before the wedding. We assembled our bouquets ourselves.

What you'll need to do:

-Research the nearest warehouse

-Visit the warehouse and show the employee a picture of the flowers you are looking for. I found the exact flowers I wanted for my bouquet and my bridal party/parents on Pinterest.

-Order the flowers

-Purchase ribbons, flower tape, and pins/bracelets for your bridal party

 The Bridal Party

Bridesmaids' Dresses:

Purchased at David's Bridal in the color Wine.

Shoes purchased at JC Penny in the color tan.

Men's Tuxedos:

Rented at Men's Warehouse.

The Groomsmen wore grey suits with ties purchased at Macy's in the color Wine.

The Groom wore a black suit with a light grey tie purchased at Men's Warehouse.

The Ceremony:

The ceremony was located at Kate Gleason Memorial Park in Beaufort, SC. Beaufort, SC is a small coastal town located on the east coast of the United States. This is an absolutely beautiful location and was where we met and were living at the time.

Most of my decorations in the photos were either rented, borrowed, handmade, or purchased from Michaels.

The Reception

The wedding reception also took place in Beaufort, SC in the historical downtown arsenal building. We hired a DJ to play music and organize the dancing.

Most all of the reception decor was either handmade, borrowed, rented, or purchased from Michaels or Amazon.

 The Food

Isaac and I were lucky enough to find a local chef and caterer who made our cake and our food for us.Of course I chose Italian food- a variety of pastas for our guests to choose from. We also had fried cake, a fruit stand, and a coffee bar. The cake I chose is very unique, and something I also found on Pinterest. It is an ancient Italian cake called millefoglie or "a thousand layers" cake. Check out the inspiration behind my wedding cake here:
