The Secret to Weight-loss: Fitness Inspiration

There are three factors to weight-loss that you need to know:

1. Finding Inspiration

2. Understanding the Science Behind Weight-loss

3. Practicing Discipline

1. Finding Inspiration

My inspiration to stay fit is mostly my stubbornness and drive, but in order to dig that out of myself, I needed something more. It may sound silly, but my go-to when I need true inspiration is Pinterest. I am a visual person and Pinterest provides images and links to blogs and websites written by women who have "been there, done that". I get to see images and read about women from all walks of life, from professional athletes to stay-at-home moms, sharing their fitness journey.

The link to my personal Pinterest account, under Shannia Castellanos, is attached below:

Visit my Pinterest Boards called "Gym" and "Fitness Inspiration" to see the kind of pins that inspire me to get fit. You can also follow my personal Pinterest account to see other pins that I find inspirational related to fashion, home decor, cooking, etc. I definitely recommend creating your own Pinterest account to gain inspiration and perspective on all of life's topics. Of course, fair warning, be careful not to get so caught up on other people's lives that you forget the significance of your own. You are one of a kind and you have a lot to offer, so remember to apply what you learn to your own life in a positive way.

2. Understanding the Science Behind Weight-loss

Science can be boring, but it is extremely helpful when considering the biological functions of the body, especially related to fitness.

Here is the science that is significant to weight-loss:

Weight-loss= Burning MORE calories than you consume

What does this mean?

Be careful what you eat and exercise definitely helps with weight-loss.

I know you've probably heard this before, but when considering the science behind it, you can't help but to believe it. If you are eating food throughout most of your day and not exercising, the logical result is weight-gain. If you are exercising, but eating full meals with fattening foods, the result will also be weight-gain or your weight will be at a standstill. I remember exercising throughout my first year of college, which definitely helped slow down the weight I was gaining, but I only gained muscle and stayed thick because of my high calorie diet. My true weight-loss began the moment I started watching what I ate. I know, it sucks to hear, but trust me, weight-loss and dieting are definitely related. I cut out carbohydrates, such as bread, most all desserts, etc. from my diet and I also cut out dairy. I found this diet to be the most helpful in accomplishing my goal. I ate lots of fruit, veggies, and protein! I recommend you research different diets and figure out the best one for your needs. Remember, you need to burn more than you eat. This means exercise and/or diet control, which brings me to my third point.

3. Discipline

Exercise and diet control can be inconvenient and bothersome because it is not easy. It takes energy, money, and precious time to do so, and so many of us neglect the idea all together. Just remember the science behind weight-loss, remember the inspiration you gained from resources such as Pinterest, and now it is time to practice discipline. Being fit does take time, it does take energy, and, in some cases, it does cost money that we don't always want to spend- but remember, is it worth it? This is where discipline takes its place. You know those moments where all you want is to sink your teeth into a nice, warm, juicy burger from Five Guys with a side of Cajun fries? Cut-it-out. Stop the fantasizing for a while because science will win.Take the extra time to grocery shop for fresh foods, or choose the soup and salad on the menu, because the results will leave you with greater confidence, better self-discipline, and a happier outlook.

So, my beautiful friends, remember these 3 things: find inspiration, remember science, and build discipline. You CAN do this and you will. I truly believe we all have it in us to conquer our weaknesses and temptations, and it will never be easy. Be patient, kind, and empower yourself in the process. Do not ever give up because the results are too sweet.

Give me a shout-out, follow my social media accounts, or message me if this post had any significance to you. I truly love hearing from y'all because it makes all of the time, thought, and energy I put into these blog posts more than worth it!

Best of luck in your fitness ventures,
